WordShell product retirement plan

Almost all good things must come to an end, and WordShell is one of those things. Starting out somewhere in 2011, as a personal script, it went commercial the next year, and has had a never-huge, but appreciative, group of users. I personally currently use it to maintain 95 sites, and will be continuing to do so. However, as a commercial venture, it is no longer worth investing time in. As such, the following “end of life” plan is now in effect:

  • Today (6th December 2016): The shop is closed; no new sales will be made. No new features will be developed; bug-fixes may still be considered, and subscribers will still be able to download the latest version. Our ticket system is also now closed; support is available now only via our (staffed) forum. The website will not be comprehensively reviewed or maintained for inconsistencies – for example, if you see references to the product being on sale, or to ticket support, these are obsolete. This retirement notice takes priority.
  • 5th December 2017: Product end-of-life: no further support will be provided; support requests will not be acknowledged. Whether the website will continue to exist in any form as a manual for existing users is undefined, and should not be relied upon. Please download any information you may wish to use before this date.

We give thanks to our customers for their support. We recommend that they, and everyone else, look at WP-CLI for command-line use, and at UpdraftCentral for web-based management.
